What's the point in baking if you don't make a mess??

Um...oops??

To start, I suck at posting. I know this. So after 6 months of not even signing in, I decided to log in a see how things were. Actually, it's more like discovered that I had linked my blog to my Pinterest profile, but it's all just semantics.

After logging in a messing around with things, I somehow deleted Every. Single. Post. Naturally, I don't have my posts saved in a word document on either of my computers, so I guess I'm just SOL.

Oh, well. I didn't really like my first posts anyway. They were full of crappy pictures I took with my phone. Not that I'm actually any sort of photographer (and I would never claim to be one, EVER, that's my sister), but every since I hijacked my sister's old camera, I've just enjoyed the pictures I've taken more. they're cleaner and crisper. At least I think so, but, then again, I know NOTHING about photography.

So now what am I to do? I have a blog, that's supposed to be about food, but no posts..

I have a plan, though. Hopefully, in the next few weeks, I'll be able to start posting again.

Why not now?

Easy. I'm severely over worked and flat broke. In other words, I'm tired and lazy and I have no money to spend on groceries to even make any food worth posting.

Also, while my original intentions for this blog was for cake decorating, I'm going to go in a completely different direction. Ok, maybe not completely. But I will be posting a wide variety of recipes and even have non-recipe postings, most likely about what I'm currently reading and what movies I've seen recently. I know that it'll be slow going to start, but in this new beginning, I would like to post something once a week, twice if I miss for any reason, and slowly work up so that I'm posting Monday-Friday, or something along those lines.

So what do you have to look forward to? Lots, actually.

I really, REALLY want to start making all of my own food from scratch. Yes, I realize that this is something that won't happen overnight, but it's definitely a goal that I'm setting for myself. This means that, eventually, I want to make my own pasta, bread, sauces, etc. I want to try and have my grocery lists become lists of ingredients like flour, eggs, milk and the "building blocks" of great food. Part of it has to do with eating healthier and part of it also has to do with the fact that I really just love to cook and spend time in the kitchen.

That being said, I will have a section for freezer friendly recipes and how to cook/reheat from the freezer. I work nights at a hospital and am about start taking my prerequisites for nursing school, so the freezer will become my best friend. I'll also keep notes about what doesn't work in the freezer at all and what kind of works (taste is fine, but texture/appearance are totally different).

You'll also probably be seeing a lot of cupcakes posted. I know that cupcakes are super popular right now and everyone and their dog is blogging about their cupcakes, but I'm hoping come up with some super yummy and creative cupcakes to share. I'll also post other sweets and baked goods, but lately, I've really been on a cupcake kick.

Failures. Because sometimes I'm just not as perfect as I think I am. Also, once I get over the fact that something failed miserably, I usually find it to be rather humorous. Let's face, we all need a laugh every now and then.

Tips and tricks. This can range from baking and cooking to just every day things like learning that a ziploc baggie full of water and a penny will keep flies away (don't ask me how it works, I saw it on Pinterest, and I will be trying it this summer).

Also, I hope to maybe have a FAQ, provided that I get more followers than my future sister-in-law. Speaking of..I may also include a How To section for anyone just starting out with cooking.
